语言可以影响思维方式。
别急,
学习也可以很有趣。
缘起
我是加拿大滑铁卢大学的学生。入学时考的雅思为7分。我有给过一些人学习英语上的建议。我想说的基本如下。
写下来我就可以少动点嘴皮子了。
希望你早日能将英语用得很流利。
基本工具
- 浏览器 (browser)
- 英英词典, 当然也可以用浏览器在google上搜,我用手机上的Merriam Webster (韦伯词典)
- 中英词典,当然也可以用浏览器在百度里搜,我用手机上的Eudic (欧路词典)
建议掌握
- 音标,看多了就会了
- 翻墙,别问我
化整为零
词汇 (Vocabulary)
每天生活中,看到一个东西就可以想想它的英文叫什么,比如钱包(wallet),麻雀(sparrow),方向盘(steering wheel),不会就查中英词典。
表达 (Expression)
想到一件事情也可以想想如何用英文来表达,比如今天很不爽,有多不爽呢,为啥不爽呢,怎么办呢?
可以在脑海里想想怎么说,或者用日记写下来,或者录音,或者自己视频对着镜头说,或者跟别人说。
词源 (Etymology)
有空想想为啥着这词这么拼,bicycle(自行车), transport(运输), triangle(三角形), geology(地质学), 等。
可以培养的习惯
搜索 (search in English)
学会用英文搜索,啥问题都可以。
例如:
- bing (必应): how to manage depression
- yahoo (雅虎): who founded yahoo
- google (谷歌): trigonometry cheat sheet
- duckduckgo: !w carbon dioxide
- wikihow: cake
- youtube (油管): bohemian rhapsody
- wikipedia (维基百科): control theory
- wolfram alpha: is sin(x-1.1)/(x-1.1)+heaviside(x) continuous
- coursera: learning how to learn
- archwiki: window manager
记录 (record using English)
用英语写日记,随笔,诗,想法,要做的事情,等。
思考 (think in English)
用英文自问自答,养成用英语思考的习惯,你会发现与用中文思考有不同。
可以了解一下 Feynman Technique 这个学习方法。
可以上瘾的东西,当然是用英文看了
- youtube(要翻墙)
- 美剧 (不许看中文字幕)
- 电影 (不许看中文字幕)
- 小说 (看喜好)
- 动漫 (看喜好,是选择日语英字,还是英语英字)
- 漫画 (看喜好,个人看日漫, one-punch man, Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Attack on titan, Skilled Teaser Takagi)
可以尝试
- 跟外国人聊天,啥都可以聊,为啥不可以
- 跟一起学英文的人聊天,可以是日本人,韩国人,中国人,印度人,等
- 跟英语流利的中国人说英文,对方能够更容易明白你想说啥,即使你说的不好
- 用英语教别人东西,最有效率
- 写blog,比如我这个网站
- 拍vlog, 比如这个人(100 Days of Rejection Therapy)
- 用英语来学其他东西:音乐,日语,吉他,做蛋糕,写网站,等
